The Essex Volunteer Fire Company is actively seeking firefighters, EMT's & anyone who wants to do their part in helping the citizens we proudly serve. Come be a part of our family.

Qualifications to become a member:

At least 16 years of age to join as a Probationary Member

Complete application, toxicology screen & background check

Complete NFPA physical (for active membership)

Complete Firefighter I or EMT-B within 18 months (for active membership)

Attend monthly Meetings and Drills as well as Participate in company functions

Application Fee of $50.00 ( Waived for current cleared and functioning Baltimore County Fire and EMS providers Volunteer or Career)

No prior training required!

Benefits of joining EVFC:

Training is completely free (incuding textbooks): All Firefighting, Rescue, and Emergency Medical training is paid for by the department and some courses will give transferable college credits

All members are eligible to be awarded college scholarships offered by the County and State

All members are eligible for retirement (Length of Service Award Program) after 25 years of service

All members receive a $4,500 Maryland State tax deduction

Many members have utilized the free training and networking opporunities to obtain successful careers
