On Saturday February 4th at approximately 12:49am station 51 was alerted for a possible residential building fire in the 300Blk of S Marlyn Ave between Platinum Ave & Renfrew St. Engine 512 responded with 5 personnel and prior to arrival Engine 7 & 71 arrived advising they had a 2 story commercial building with smoke showing from 2nd floor side alpha and heavy fire on side charlie. Engine 512 was 3rd arriving laying out a additional supply line from the hydrant at 406 S Marlyn Ave before continuing to scene to assist crews with stretching a 2nd hand line to the rear of the structure. command requested a 2nd alarm due to the size and layout of the building, 512s crew was later assigned to forcing entry and checking multiple businesses on the 1st floor for any possible extension or smoke conditions crews were then later assigned to set up & establish RIT. The fire was placed under control within 25 minutes of the initial dispatch station 51 remained on scene for 2 hours before clearing the fireground & returning to station
